Tahdhib Al-Ahkam (Arabic: تَهذیب الأحکام , The Refinement of Laws) is one of the four major hadith collections in Shia Islam, compiled by Shaykh al-Tusi (d. 460/1067). It serves as a comprehensive legal reference, organizing traditions from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) and the Imams into a structured framework of Islamic jurisprudence. Drawing primarily from earlier works, especially Al-Kafi and Man La Yahduruhu al-Faqih, Shaykh al-Tusi analyzed, compared, and clarified conflicting reports to guide scholars in deriving legal rulings. The book remains a cornerstone of Shia legal thought and an essential source for understanding Islamic law and ethics.
